ABOUT BIARB
The Botswana Institute of Arbitrators was established in 1987 and was founded to promote, facilitate and educate its members and the public at large on the adoption and use of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
BIArb provides education and training for those practicing or wishing to practice as arbitrators, or ADR professionals within Botswana, and promote the study and development of the law surrounding ADR in the country.
The institute provides a platform for the exchange of information and development of views on matters relevant to the developing arena of arbitration and related ADR, amongst its members and stakeholders in the public arena.
BIArb also presents the views of its members in national and public arenas surrounding arbitration and related ADR topics, to develop the use, implementation and continued growth of arbitration and ADR within Botswana, and the region.
The Institute, where invited to do so, may nominate for selection and appointment appropriately qualified persons to sit as arbitrators over disputes. BIArb therefore seeks to ensure that its members and nominated arbitrators uphold high standards of professional competence and possess the relevant qualifications to preside over arbitrations.
Membership to BIArb is open to individuals and corporate members who have an interest, and expertise in arbitration and ADR.
Aplications for membership, and the requirements for qualifying to be admitted to one of the various categories can be found here.
